Create Excitement for BFCM w/ your Popup

How to best create excitement in the lead-up to Black Friday using your popup

As we get closer to BFCM, it’s important to consider adjusting your popups to maximize list growth and supercharge your marketing efforts during the holiday season.

Before we dive in, an important reminder:

Make sure to review your current Alia billing plan and adjust if you expect your traffic to exceed your visitor cap limit during any period over the next two months.

The last thing you want is your popup shutting off during the most important time of the year. And, unfortunately, it’s out of our control if you do hit your cap because that is controlled by Shopify.

So, make sure to adjust accordingly here on the upgrade tab!

Here are 3 tactical adjustments you can make in the lead-up to BFCM to improve popup performance:

(1) BFCM VIP List Offer:

A great strategy to warm up your list for your sale and get additional signups is by highlighting early access to BFCM deals. Here’s an example from American Dream Nut Butter:

This makes shoppers feel special, boosts opt-in rates, and will have a segment of signups excited to purchase once your deals get live!

(2) A/B Test Design:

One of the most important things with your popup performance is A/B testing design, copy, and everything else related to its function and aesthetic.

Now more than ever, you need to be setting up new A/B tests. Here are a few tests you can consider running:

  • Add a micro commit screen like a mini-quiz or simple yes/no

  • Adjust your discount offer - either by making it larger or trying different incentives like Free Shipping, Free Products, etc.

  • Incorporate new design elements or coloring to the popup

(3) Add Some Festivities/Holiday Copy:

Make your popup stand out with some holiday styling!

Add new image and design elements that makes a shopper stop for a second and think about how great your upcoming deals might be.

Finally, make sure to start prepping your popups if you plan to use any during your actual BFCM sale. We’ll send another email about this next week, as well!

Keeping them running during your sale can drive some amazing list growth with the higher traffic, while enhancing the performance of the site.
